Transcript for "LG Meets Kokomo24/7":
Hi, everybody. Thank you for joining today's webinar, LG Meets. My name is Debbie Raymundo, and I am going to be, introducing Nick Welch, who is with Kokomo24/7, and they have a fantastic all in one school safety solution, that just happens to work really well with LG products. So hey, Nick. Thanks for joining us today. Hey, Debbie. Thanks for having us here. It's been great to be LG partners over the last several years. Excited to to reconnect. We've been at a number of trade shows together and talked with a lot of folks in k twelve about our integrated technology solutions. So, I think it'll be a good conversation today. Right on. We sure have. Alright. With that said, I'm gonna go ahead and let you get started. Thanks, Nick. Cool. I appreciate it. Hello, everyone. My name is Nick Welch. I am marketing lead at Kokomo24/7. We are a school safety software platform that provides a wide variety of school safety solutions, to k-twelve. We also work with a number of other verticals. Today I'm going to be talking a little bit about the state of k-twelve, some of the solutions that Kokomo offers, and in particular, how our solutions work seamlessly with LG's great portfolio of hardware, to provide integrated technology solutions that schools need. So getting started, I just wanted to highlight, a few key facts about k twelve today, especially that relates to school safety solutions and relates to student health and overall technology efficiency. The first thing that I think we need to establish as a foundation whenever we're talking about school safety, is to talk about the facts in the ground and remember where administrators are coming from as they are trying to create and implement implement, integrated technology solutions that keep their schools safe. I myself am the son of a public school teacher, the grandson of two public school teachers, so, I know how personal this is. And I know that teachers and administrators view, the kids who are in their school oftentimes as their own kids. And so when we take the mentality that k 12 educators are bringing to work every day and we think about the reality of school violence, all forms of violence from bullying and cyberbullying all the way to the worst case scenario in terms of mass gun violence, school safety is a huge issue for schools, and and everything from preventing violence to responding to violence effectively are really critical priorities. Another thing that schools are considering as especially after the pandemic, is the mental health of their students. And what the data is clear on is that youth mental health, especially after the pandemic, is a major challenge that students are reporting and that teachers and administrators have to address as part of their job, not just educating students, but spending huge amounts of time with their students. And as schools think about the environments that they are creating, both the learning environments and the general school community, it's clear that there are a number of challenges. One of the challenges, especially in my role as Kokomo, dealing directly with administrators and oftentimes technology leaders at school, we hear them talk about a few key challenges: Budget constraints, a lack of resources, staffing issues, and silos inside of campus are all things that we hear about on a daily basis when we're speaking with school leaders both in safety and security, technology, and other departments. These aren't just anecdotal facts, but they're also backed up by data. So Kokomo24/7, which is a leading educational organization, in 2024 did a survey of ed tech leaders across America. And what they found is that a lot of the the problems that school administrators have faced, going back decades and especially in a few years, are still here. As you can see in the chart that I featured here, issues with budget, issues with staffing, issues with with silos are all reoccurring. They've been some of the top problems for years, and two of the ones that I want to highlight in terms of student well-being and interoperability, which I've highlighted on the right, are challenges that Kokomo talks a lot with schools about. We talk about schools in terms of these being some of the main challenges that they're facing, and also some of the key challenges that our software platform is able to provide solutions for, both in terms of just software and also in terms relating to our conversation today with LG in terms of integrated technology solutions in partnership with great hardware vendors like LG. So I've mentioned Kokomo24/7, the company that I'm marketing lead for. And I wanna just give a quick rundown on who we are and why we're partnered with LG before I get into our array of integrated technology solutions. Kokomo24/7 is a software platform. The company has been around for a number of years. We are deeply rooted in education. Our first client was actually Los Angeles Unified, which is obviously one of the largest school districts in America. And over the past several years, we've been hard at work, building a very agile and flexible platform, something that's cloud native, and a platform that is built holistically from the ground up into a wide array of safety solutions, as you can see in the diagram featured here. Some of the key outcomes that our platform enables are increased accountability for school administrators, increased efficiency both in terms of time saved and cost savings, and interoperability. We were talking once with an IT director at a school district, and when they were talking about the the wide array of data silos and different tools in their tech stack that didn't talk to each other, they summed up the problem to us as, they were just simply tired of having to manage 76 different passwords. And I think that's a really evocative way to talk about the challenge of interoperability. When different solutions are being accommodated through systems that don't talk with each other or through software platforms which have formed through integration rather than being built through the ground up, there's always a risk for fragmentation, there's always the potential for data silos. Something that we are known for is what we call COCOMO GPA, which is our flexible architecture. It's what allows all of these solutions listed here on the screen, to be housed in one platform and to be truly interoperable so that schools can manage everything from incident management to visitor management to mass communications and more in one platform. So in addition to highlighting the flexibility of our platform and the wide array of software solutions that we provide, I really wanna talk today about the integrated technology solutions that Kokomo24/7 highlights with LG's array of hardware. The solutions are listed here on the screen, and I wanna take just a few minutes to go into each one in-depth. The first software solution that I wanna highlight, and and really it's critical because visitor management is the first step to school safety, is Kokomo's Visitor Management System Plus, utilizing an LG kiosk. So Kokomo's VMS Plus gives schools a holistic solution to welcome, screen, and manage all visitors for enhanced school safety, and it gives schools the flexibility to do more. Solutions from volunteer management to event management, vendor management, releasing of students to parents and checking parent custody, all of these things can be configured through our software and run-in an all in one hardware solution on LG's kiosks. The LG kiosk is a really, really great device for enabling, self-service so that parents, community members, anyone who's entering a school can go through the check-in process, share their data, scan their identification documents, and receive a printed badge in one hardware unit, which is a really big differentiator from other visitor management providers in the k 12 market. We all know that visitor management is essential. One of the other pieces with especially from a hardware piece is that some legacy VMS products are inefficient. They may not provide flexibility to enable different deployment methods in various school locations, and there are no feasible all in one hardware solutions on the market in terms of receiving printers and scanners, all in one integrated hardware unit. So the LG kiosk is a really huge differentiator, and a really great way for schools to enable self-service visitor check-in through a kiosk model. It's clear that schools need cost effective solutions after the the end of ESSER funds post pandemic, and that parents and communities prioritize school safety. And Kokomo24/7's VMS plus on LG kiosks are a great way to refresh VMS, and provide a really clear solution to the school community. And, actually, before I move on, I wanna take a moment, to show a video of the solution in action. Hi. My name is Louie with Kokomo24/7. And today, we're gonna be going over the walk in and preregistration workflows on the Kokomo kiosk for the visitor management system. So if we were to tap guest walk in, we first enter the type of visitor we are, Press next. You can enter a phone number into here. Press next and then enter basic information. And an email optional. And then choose a destination where we're visiting. From there, when we press submit, an automatic pop up will appear and print out an adhesive badge with the information we entered as well as a QR code to check out of the facility at the end of the day, which we could scan within the QR code scanner and barcode scanner here. And within the same home page, you can actually pre register and scan a personalized QR code almost like a ticket for the pre registration check-in. You don't actually need to tap pre registration. If you have a QR code, you can automatically scan. And then from there, the adhesive badge will be printed again with the basic information you entered during the pre registration steps from a prior date. And just like the other time, you can actually scan out from the QR code, and you'll be checked out of the facility as well. The next solution I wanna talk about between Kokomo24/7 and LG is content management. Kokomo24/7 platform enables schools to orchestrate communications and content management all through one software platform. Our platform is incredibly flexible. We're able to ingest any type of data that schools may already be party to, and we offer a number of integrations with our third party software partners, which enable schools to display content of their choosing and also third party content, including weather data, clocks, mass communications, which schools orchestrate, and emergency notifications, which are part of a school's school safety planning. Content management is really critical and for every single device in LG's portfolio, and especially highlighted here, LG signage, being able to manage content both for nonemergency and emergency situations, that flexibility is one of the hallmarks of the Kokomo24/7 twenty four seven platform, and it allows schools to take their LG devices, including LG signage, and extend them to the next level. And here, I wanna show another video of the solution in action. The next integrated technology solution that I wanna highlight is emergency notifications. Kokomo24/7 allows schools to orchestrate their emergency notifications all through one platform so that when time is critical, schools are able to manage and send emergency notifications with confidence. Kokomo twenty four seven enables schools to communicate with their entire school community and have the flexibility to do more. And in partnership with LG's devices, it enables an integrated technology solution for communicating with the school community during a crisis. One of the things that I wanna highlight here and one of the reasons why we chose the LG Create board is the ability to tailor emergency notifications during school safety planning. The Kokomo platform is incredibly flexible as I've mentioned, so it allows schools to leverage data including any sort of crisis maps that a school district may have, camera systems that a school has in place on its facilities, as well as the school PA system to, in a preplanned and really smart way, drive specific messaging onto devices during an emergencies. An example of this would be preplanning where LG signage and where LG create boards are in a school so that if emergency notifications are triggered, specific crisis maps or specific exit arrows can be pre planned and orchestrated to appear on this LG signage. It's a really cutting edge and really smart way to make use of a school's entire dataset and to make use of a school's, capacity to pre plan for emergencies. And by pairing the Kokomo software platform together with LG's devices, schools can prepare for the worst, and ensure that their emergency notifications provide as much information as possible to their community. Here we have another video showing the solution. Hi. My name is Louie with Kokomo24/7. And today, we'll be demoing Kokomo's panic button solution paired with several different LG signage. And from here you'll see the interoperability of sending emergency notifications and displaying them on screens in real time emergencies. These buttons on here are attached to a lanyard for people to have their student ID or school ID attached to it. And from here there are several different form factors as well as fixed panic buttons, and then remotes that have the same panic button feature. You can click, long press, and double click to send different forms of notification directly to the different signages that are set up in your school. So if I were to press this button, a signal would have been sent to these devices to display emergency notification, as you can see that pop up on the screen, that tell people what emergency is happening, where it's located, and these can be customized per different click that single, double, and long press can all send different notifications based on the configuration to what emergency they're responding to. So from here, you can see the interoperability of Kokomo's panic button and LG signage of various types. It is not specific on what kind of signage you have in your school, but then you can display these images in real time emergencies so everyone is notified and alerted properly. Another integrated technology solution that I wanna highlight is accessibility. So the Kokomo24/7 software platform enables schools to notify their communities through multiple channels. These include SMS, email, automated phone calls, the school's PA system, integrated signage, and more. And in mind of Kokomo24/7 flexibility, one of the types of notifications we're able to enable is accessible notifications. So an example of this would be schools for the deaf and hard of hearing. Kokomo24/7 has worked with a number of schools for the deaf and hard of hearing in multiple states across the country. And one of the unique needs that these types of schools have is accessible notifications. For example, notifications that feature messages, by signers signing American sign language to communicate the message. Using Kokomo24/7 flexible architecture and our flexible solutions, these types of needs are very easily addressable and then applied to whatever types of hardware that the school has to broadcast its messaging, including LG signage, LG, and more. This is yet another example of how pairing LG devices with Kokomo24/7 enables schools to accommodate their unique challenges in a really easy way and then apply these solutions across their entire technology stack, including LG devices. And here's a quick demonstration of that solution in action. And the last integrated technology solution I wanna highlight is school based health care. This solution is honestly really exciting to think about, and very cutting edge. Kokomo24/7 has worked with a number of schools to bring increased health care access to their student bodies. There are a number of schools in our country that do not have adequate access to nurses, and especially to to physicians. And through the Kokomo24/7 platform, we offer services in which schools and school nurses, can have access to licensed physicians, which enables schools to deliver an increased level of health care to their students that they may not have been able to previously. Simple things such as supplying medicine and offering basic diagnoses of of commonplace ailments, cannot often be done by school nurses but can be done by licensed physicians. And utilizing telehealth services, which are enabled by the Kokomo24/7 platform, as well as using LG devices to supply this and to enable this type of health care, it offers a really transformative model for school based health care that goes far beyond, simply having a school nurse in a school or potentially having a school that's in a health care desert that may not even have access to a school nurse during some or any of the day. School based health care through this model has really exciting potential to address student wellness, to address some of the root causes of chronic absenteeism and school completion, by providing students with more equitable resources and by enabling kids to stay in school so that they don't have to leave school to receive medicine or to see a doctor for a checkup. It's really exciting and again it's it's an example of an integrated solution that is made possible by pairing Kokomo24/7 software with LG devices. And here's a quick demonstration of how that healthcare model looks in practice. One of the questions that I frequently get from schools is what's the best way to get started. Kokomo offers a really wide array of software solutions, and I've just mentioned five integrated technology solutions that we are highlighting in partnership with LG Electronics. All that to say, getting started can sometimes seem like a lot, but there are very real benefits. For one, schools typically see, software savings between 2530% compared to other offerings. Our solutions are end to end versus a patchwork patchwork solution. That comes both in terms of Kokomo being a holistic ground up platform as well as LG's hardware solutions being all in one, in particular the all in one VMS kiosk, which is very differentiated from other VMS solutions that are currently offered to k twelve. We work with school districts of all customer sizes, school districts that are as large as LAUSD to small private charter schools of under a thousand students, and we're very intentional to make our solutions easy to use. So our solutions are plug and play, easily integrate with school SIS and other software systems. And for schools that are particularly budget conscious or trying to take advantage of grants that are available, Being school safety solutions, our solutions are eligible for SVPP grants, stop grants, and other state level funding. Having surveyed what Kokomo24/7's platform does and some of the integrated technology solutions that we offer in partnership with LG, I would love to take a moment to see if there are any questions from the audience, questions about best practices for school safety, anything like that. And with that, I'd like to thank Debbie and, turn it over for questions. Hi, everybody. I hope you enjoyed that webinar. We're doing a lot of, LG Electronics Meets lately. If you need to see if you'd like to see other LG Electronics Meets videos, you can see those on our webinars tab at createboard.com. Just checking here to see if we have any any hot questions. You know, Nick, we've we've been seeing a lot of, like, you know, messages across the board. We're seeing keynote speakers. We're seeing other types of webinars on, you know, creating a safe environment, in school. So I I think this is a really hot topic, and I'm really glad that you were able to join us today. Yeah. I appreciate it. School safety is incredibly important. It's important to the teachers. It's important to, to parents, to young people who are in school themselves. And so, there's a lot of stakeholders who are expecting these solutions to be there, and that's certainly something that school administrators are responding to. So we're seeing a lot of folks in the EdTech community, a lot of folks in, you know, school leadership working together to try to find a way to bridge these gaps, and bring these solutions that enable safety and operations in a more efficient way. Yeah. For sure. So it does look like we've got a question here, in the chat. Is the Kokomo24/7 offerings through through directly through you, through distribution? Do your do your partners and integrators have have access to licenses? Yeah. Absolutely. So, in terms of procurement, we do work direct. We work through a number of the major resellers. So if if folks have relationships with, you know, some of the big resellers out there, you can feel free to ask your reps about us. We're skewed up there. We do demos through our resellers. And then we also do work directly at times as well. So finding us at Kokomo24/7 dot com, shooting us a contact us form, or even just reaching out to me directly, we can work from there. Cool. That sounds great. You wanna type that type that email address in in the, in the chat there? Yeah. Sure. Say it out loud one more time so that everybody gets that. Yep. For anyone who is curious and wants to learn more about our solutions, our website is Kokomo24/7.com. There's a button up at the upper right says contact us. You can feel free just to contact us, and someone from our our partnerships team will reach out. You can also feel free to reach out to me directly. It's just Nick, n I c k, at Kokomo24/7 dot com. Right on. Well, thanks, Nick. This was a great webinar. This will be available on demand for any of those of you who are watching that would like to pass it on to your team. And we have one more last question. Possible to get a list of qualified resellers. Do you have that on Kokomo24/7? Kokomo24/7. Yeah. And and, John, I'll just go ahead and reach out to you directly after, the call with a list of that. There you go. Right on. Alright. Thanks, everybody. Have a great Wednesday. Thank you all.
